Rüya Su Şencan is a PhD student at the Center of Social and Cultural Psychology at KU Leuven. She is working on the ERC Grant EmotionAcculturation under the supervision of Prof. Mesquita.

Her research aims to better understand the nature and consequences of the phenomenon of emotional acculturation referring to the changes in emotions as a result of encounters with another culture. She specifically investigates (1) changes in emotions across different aspects of emotional experience, (2) individual differences and situational factors helping/hindering emotional acculturation, and (3) the effect of emotional fit on contact experiences between minority and majority members.

She obtained her MA in Psychological Sciences and BA in Psychology from Boğaziçi University, Turkey.
